One year has past from this concert, and somehow it seems yesterday and a lifetime ago at the same time…

What a pleasure has been to play drums in this beautiful event for Andrea Griminelli’s 60th birthday concert

an amazing night with incredible artists and special moments in which i played drums with STING, ZUCCHERO, RENATO ZERO, AMII STEWART, SUMI JO, BEPPE CARLETTI, IRENE FORNACIARI, ANDREA GRIMINELLI of course, and an incredible Symphonic Orchestra of more than 280 elements…

A beautiful experience taking me to perform with some of my musical heroes of a lifetime…

You can check also my BACKSTAGE FOOTAGE shoot during rehearsals and just before the show

Some of the most emotional moments of the evening have been playing “Englishman In New York”, “Fragile” and “Roxanne” with Sting… another really moving moment was playing “Miserere” with Zucchero because we had the immense vocal performing by Luciano Pavarotti in synch with us…

Playing an Italian songwriting artwork such as “Il Cielo” with Renato Zero has been Priceless too…

With Amii Stewart we played the classic soul/rnb super hit “Knock On Wood”

and many more…

As a session drummer it is difficult to take part to an event of this caliber because you have to face the thing of going, in a very short time “into the music” or “into the mood” of all these incredible artists and they all have so different styles and distant musical worlds…

I think that playing music, sometimes is like to be an actor and in a concert like this, somehow, you have to switch your musical personality like switching between different characters of different movies in a very short time…

this, for me, means in someways, growing up as a drummer, musician and artist… and i’m glad they all were so happy with my work on drums;

Then a new “Big challenge” came out of the blue:

it was

Mixing and Mastering the whole audio recording of the concert…

yes because a few weeks after the concert arrived the proposal to work as artistic producer for the mix and mastering of the concert recording…

almost 300 musicians stage, a 6 band members, a whole symphonic orchestra with ANDREA GRIMINELLI on flute and all the guest stars of the night recorded in 72 multitrack recording tracks to be mixed and mastered…

and here also, in such a big big recording studio work done in my M81 Studios, the challenge was won with a result that has been liked by the production…

What can be said more…

BEHIND DREAMS, THERE ARE THE SACRIFICES THAT PEOPLE CAN’T SEE…

Cheers

M
